In addition to visual radio features, High-Definition Radio, called "HD", would make little sense if the source of the music being broadcast was analogue, or stored on digital tapes without the ability to continually add meta-data, such as listener "tags" to the song description. In fact, why would a consumer pay a subscription-fee to listen to HD Radio if that experience simply made the scratches and static from an analogue source easer to hear?
